IMSA race at Mid-Ohio postponed by COVID-19 to later in the 2020 season

Another IMSA race has been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement Tuesday from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio has been postponed from its May 1-3 race weekend. The event was scheduled to be the third of the 2020 IMSA season.
The series and track have entered discussions on finding another date for later in the season.
Last week, the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) forced the postponement of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring to November.
IMSA’s top series have been idle since the Rolex 24 opener. IMSA is scheduled to resume with the May 30 race at Detroit.
Here’s the statement from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course:
“This is an important update to race fans, competitors and all associated with the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio event.
Following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance regarding limiting public gatherings to no more than 50 people, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course can confirm the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio will not take place as previously scheduled from May 1-3.
This delays the start of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course season opening and will impact the following IMSA-sanctioned series:
·      IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
·      IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge
·      IMSA Prototype Challenge
·      Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama
Acura, IMSA, and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course are in discussions to identify a new date later in 2020.

IMSA and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will promptly communicate any updates as further information is made available.”
